Worldpay Redesign & Strategy

Strategy, Copywriting, UX, Development, Ongoing Support

Partnership built on precision

Global payments leader Worldpay sought a new website that would not only free them from their old platform, but also provide a more united, intuitive, and localized experience for users – regardless of the scope of their business needs. With an ultra-precise RFP, Worldpay was diligent about partnering with an agency that could provide the security, strategy, and web architecture they required. The new Worldpay.com needed to meet the needs of an international customer base – but also a large, diverse team of employees who rely on the site’s performance and utility on a daily basis. Ample was up to the challenge.

From a substantial discovery process to design, technical strategy, deployment, and beyond, Ample was able to provide the full gamut of support to ensure that Worldpay’s new site launch was a success.

From kickoff to implementation

Worldpay serves small businesses, enterprise-level companies, and software platforms – with plenty of nuance within each of these groups. Therefore, the site journey was paramount within our discovery and strategizing process with the client. We spoke to over twenty members of the Worldpay team across divisions seeking to understand:

  • What the internal team required from the elevated Worldpay.com
  • What their users needed in order to reach the information, people, and experiences right for them.

From a substantial discovery process to design, technical strategy, deployment, and beyond, Ample was able to provide the full gamut of support to ensure that Worldpay’s new site launch was a success.

Filling in the blanks

The Ample team collaborated with Worldpay on UX design; voice, tone, and copywriting strategy; and SEO to ensure that the creative output from the discovery process translated smoothly onto the new Worldpay.com. The new site design needed to be responsive, accessible, and able to seamlessly accommodate multiple languages. It also required a suite of visual components that could be used and re-used throughout the site. Some of these include components that collapse or progressively show tabbed or categorized content, so that the user is not overwhelmed and can find exactly what they’re looking for. This structure enabled us to display a complex offering of products and services to meet the needs of multiple audiences – Worldpay’s SMB, enterprise, software, and partner segments. The result is a unified, smooth, and engaging website that flows effortlessly from high-level navigation to interactive microanimations.

Mike Albert - Site Analytics

To ensure improved search optimization with Google, the Ample team collaborated with Worldpay’s SEO strategist to ensure the new site is extremely precise with the structured data sent to Google. This helps each page rank for its relevant keywords – relying on more than just metadata and page copy to do so. In addition to providing strategy surrounding voice and creating copy that reached Worldpay’s wide audience, Ample provided a copy outline for each page and individual component of the new site, making it easier for the Worldpay marketing team to input copy as they tackled a content transfer.

Security in the architecture

As a leader in the financial services industry, security at every level is of the utmost importance for Worldpay. With the nature of the Jamstack, high performance and robust security are always prioritized with a closed management system that secures database layers from the public. Ample developers consulted with the Worldpay team throughout the process, providing an architecture and deployment strategy that ensured confidentiality from top to bottom.

Super scalable internationalization

Our client serves over ten different countries, and localizing these pages for their unique audiences is paramount. While building the new site, Ample wanted to ensure that this experience was not only ideal for Worldpay’s users, but also for their website team. Every page can be seamlessly edited in any number of languages, including different versions of the same language (e.g. British and American English), from the same CMS. This solved a lot of content admin headaches that came with page localization in the past. It’s also easier than ever for the Worldpay team to cross-publish, edit, and update content in multiple languages from the same place.

Looking down the road

As we closed out 2024, version 1 of the new Worldpay site was launched and is performing smoothly. Version 2 is well underway, with even more languages, more accessibility offerings, and plenty of upcoming additions to serve Worldpay’s Partner segment. As new components are added and fresh content is created, Ample set up Storybook to make it easy for the team to preview and test new additions to the site as they go.

In 2025, we’re looking forward to partnering with the experts at Worldpay on technology, localization, and continued improvements to Worldpay.com.
