NVIDIA's Jensen Huang floated paying employees in AI tokens instead of cash. I am not a historian by any stretch, but that sounds a lot like the company store: 19th-century coal-mining scrip, workers in debt to their employer, and the Truck Acts of 1831 that Parliament passed to stop it. Sean and I trace the parallel and ask what happens when the tools you need to stay competitive belong to your boss.
